History

Like most Mini freaks in search of a potential rebuild project, I started out looking for a Cooper 'S' of any description.
As you can imagine, on the rare occasion I did find anything, it was either a replica or just too over priced.
After months of turning up bugger all, a friend told me to go on the radio! It was an ABC radio program called 'The Shed', it's a buy, sell, swap type of program.
Anyway, after finally plucking up the courage, I went on, did my bit, then hung up. How embarassing!
I kid you not... ...it took only 10 minutes before the phone rang!
It was a guy in Carnarvon (West Australia). He didn't have a Cooper 'S' , but he did have this genuine 1964 Mk1 Morris Mini Cooper 998.

He bought it for his wife many years ago. When the marriage ended, so did the daylight for the Cooper.
It was sent to the shed and forgotten about for the next 18 years.
He always meant to clean it up a bit, but never got around to it. So when he heard my request on the radio, he thought it was the best time to clean out some space in his garage. Better still, he was happy enough to give it away !

No arguments from me ! I rang up Autotrans and had it shipped down within the week.

Now I know you should never by sight unseen, but given I didn't really buy it to begin with, what the hell hey !

Lucky for me, it turned out to be in pretty good condition and better still, it was the real deal.
All genuine with matching numbers (No Replica).
